The Response To Gary Indiana Storm Victims

 

On August 11, 2026 a massive storm hit Gary Indiana, causing widespread destruction.  Other areas surrounding the northwest region were also greatly affected. Some residents have described the aftermath as being "apocalyptic". Weather analysts say the storm produced an EF1 tornado; and despite the tornado having a lower ranking on the scale, EF1's have the punch to produce massive amounts of damage. A death total of seven people has been reported ranging from ages of 4 to 86 (and sometimes people die later in hospitals). Thousands of people remain without power, and are experiencing difficulty finding fuel sources, food, and water. What is happening here?

I cannot help but think about Hurricane Katrina and the dismal response we witnessed from federal and state authorities after the storm. During the event, George W Bush Jr was the sitting president. Well over a thousand people died during Hurricane Katrina. History (despite Trump's efforts to erase it) will forever remember images of people standing and waving on rooftops for help which never came, or came simply too late. The Bush administration's response to aid people was outrageous. Much of the hurricane victims resided in predominantly black areas, a similar parallel to what we see with the storm impacting Gary Indiana a few weeks ago. Racial dynamics certainly can play a role in withholding or expediting state and federal responses to natural disasters. We have seen it before.

Keep in mind it is summertime in Indiana and the temperatures are hot! A lot of residents in Gary have lost food in their refrigerators and even freezers. They have to deal with the rotting mess adding further insult to the injury. School attendance has been canceled and some stores are basically out of food, water, and essentials. Trees, limbs and other debris litter the streets and create hazardous situations even until this day. Many homes have extensive property damage and I'm not sure FEMA has reached out to these individuals. To compound the issue our felon Chief Donald J Trump is the sitting president. 

The New York Times reports Indiana's governor Mike Braun has called for an investigation into a regional utility company regarding its slow response to restore power. "The utility, Northern Indiana Public Service Co., had promised that power would be restored by Tuesday to the nearly 4,000 customers who are still in the dark after a storm that ripped through northwest Indiana on Aug. 11. The storm toppled trees and knocked out electricity, at one point, to more than 370,000 customers." 

Gary Indiana is predominately a black city. We know how such demographics effect federal and even the state level response during catastrophic events. The inadequate response following the aftermath of the Gary storm rarely makes the news on prime time networks. Stories about the struggles of its residents are scarce to make local news in the area I live in which is a hell pit in the south.  However, Indiana is a red state. It is going to be "interesting" to see how this plays out as Indiana's state government attempts to tap into federal resources for its residents and to address the damage in the area.

Todd Blanche, Pedophile Protector & Attorney General

 

Last week, the United States Senate confirmed Todd Blanche as the nation's Attorney General. Blanche has been serving as interim Attorney General since notorious sycophant Pam Bondi was fired. What a group! We got a 34 count felon president and a lawyer mafia character who goes out of his way to protect pedophiles is now representing our Department of Justice. From Trump sycophant Pam Bondi to wheeler and dealer Todd Blanche as pillars of law and order. Godfather's Don Corleone would be proud to have such a man.

Yet for a refreshing change, every Democratic senator voted against Blanches' confirmation, in contrast to voting "yes" regarding the Charlie Kirk Resolution. There were some Republicans holdouts which succumbed to their fellow peers' persuasion (likely implicit threats) encouraging them to vote "yes", including Bill Cassiday of Louisiana and Thom Tillis of North Carolina. The dynamic see-sawing duo Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins representing Maine voted "no" against appointing weasel-eyed Blanche.

Todd Blanche, in the midst of the release of the Epstein files, met with Ghislaind Maxwell in prison, to ensure her silence regarding Donald Trump's escapades with minors. It is laughable that roughened shoe leather Republican senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa, the Senate Judiciary Committee’s chair, praised Blanche as a “tough, fair prosecutor dedicated to the rule of law.”  

This thug who is part of a criminal syndicate met with a convicted pedophile, to obtain favors from her to guarantee "cooperation" in not exposing Trump's attachment to children and his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.  Horrid.

The Department of Justice has become an instrument for a racist authoritarian regime which seeks to diminish the power of people of color in this country. It has a goal to advocate a false ideology that white people (who control most of the wealth, resources and hold nearly all positions in power) are being discriminated against in the United States. For us blacks, we can expect little or no help from the DOJ regarding criminal acts or discrimination, and this will continue under the leading of Todd Blanche. Nevertheless, people should continue to file suits and employ their help to document and demonstrate their callous and racist disregard. None of this is acceptable by any means, therefore we must continue in our fight against this regime.
